The Astrology of 2026: Spiritual Gateway

Hello everyone,

Happy New Year!  I am pleased to share this article covering the astrology of 2026, one of the most pivotal years of the decade.  There is so much to go over with regard to the astrological energies right now that I have already started to put together a Part II for this article, and expect to work on that very soon.

The focus of this report is to give a broad overview of the major themes of the year through my own intuitive analysis and an outline of the most significant features of the Chinese & Western Astrological influences of 2026.  At the end, there is an entire section devoted to practical guidance on how to better navigate the turbulence of the current and incoming changes using insights I have gleaned through my practice of Taoist cultivation over many years.

Taoist cosmology and spiritual practice is referenced quite frequently in my writings as this is the framework through which I orient all of my spiritual work, including Astrology.  For those who are drawn towards these concepts and are seeking a tangible practice/methodology to develop your energetic resilience, I offer Qigong & Internal Martial Arts training in person and online at the Tao Institute, where we engage with these processes directly.  I encourage all people to find tangible practices that help you stay oriented, clear, and grounded in your life — at all times, but especially now.  In times of chaos, spiritual anchors are essential, as they keep us in tune with what is true, real, and enduring.

I hope this article offers some assistance as we travel through it all.  Please enjoy.

January/February 2026: Initial Thoughts

I began my work on this year’s article from the confinement of ice covered roads in Western NC, in the final days of the Wood Snake year, enjoying the simple peace of stillness, silence & retreat.

In the last year, my life was destabilized several times by different types of weather.  Wind, water, lightning, fire, and now ice.  Each event produced total disruption — quick pivots, schedules & plans discarded, new dilemmas introduced and former projects delayed.  I’ve never been more subject to nature’s rule, and in being so — have been swept deeply into its currents.  With each new day, unfurling the rigidity of my human expectations.

These unexpected shifts in my own life perfectly encapsulate the Taoist sentiment that, “you cannot escape by running to the mountains, for life still happens there.”  That is to say, even in my own small corner of this world — one which may appear to the eye as placid and peaceful, I am keenly aware of the instability of the current energies.  And, in facing the reality of that which is beyond my control, have come to embrace this void, this space of pure potentiality.

The years of intensive consideration of the spiritual nature of these times exist in an expanse I wish I could simply turn over without the strain and limitation of words.  The information itself, fluid and uncapturable — yet persistent and unchanging — an ultimate expression of Tao.

The change that approaches is one we all feel, instinctively.  One could argue that it has already arrived.  Subtly.  In the underlayers.  When did it begin?  When will it end?

Intuitives always receive that question.  “When will it end?”  As if there is such a thing.  As we spiral into timelessness and stand at the thresholds of transformation — such a human question.  The small self searching for a trap door.  An escape from the void.

My friend, we have hardly even begun.  Everything up until now has only been preparation.

I will not join the choir of doomsday predictions, nor do I assume an idealistic/utopian view.  The road ahead is a paradox.  It is not one or the other.  It is both and then some.  It is a mystery we are meant to navigate by living in the present.  By remaining centered in our humanity.

Do not fear the times we are living in — for these are the times our soul chose, knowing this reckoning would one day arrive — with all of its darkness and pain.  It is an experience through which we are meant to bear witness.  And in the chaos and turmoil, to shepherd forth a new world which we may not yet understand, or live to see.  It is a critical turning point, a crossroads, that we aspired to guide — knowing that we’d be driving against great headwinds — both inside of ourselves and in the outer world.

It is important that we do not place too many designs on our perception of the future.  In this moment, our vision is limited — like a pinhole.  We believe we can make assumptions about the future based on the past.  The past is a useful guide, but it is not the decider.  The future from here is one that will not resemble the past that we currently understand, but is arising from a much greater cycle of civilization, materiality, spirituality and earth evolution.

All cycles, large and small, reveal karma.  The more enduring the pattern, the deeper the karma.  Resolving karma is an essential key to breaking unproductive cycles. The recapitulations of the past that many are observing are the karmas of our modern society.  To resolve anything, we must first witness the cycles, the karmas — then digest and transform them from this observational state, a process that occurs naturally through witnessing.  Understand this process as a part of the present — not necessarily a projection of the future.

The more we engage with the truth of these cycles, in all levels, without becoming enmeshed in them — the more they naturally rise and fall.  The more the true reality of what is occurring underneath is revealed.  It is our resistance to this process, and fearfulness, that keeps patterns in place and causes them to be perpetuated.

To project a past cycle into the future is a type of shadow projection — one that pulls us from the capability to see or fully understand the present as it is.  And one that distorts our clarity, insight, and ability to take right action.  It can be a delicate balance between witnessing and enmeshment — but it is important to make the distinction between a karmic pattern and a future timeline.  For the future is not yet written and contains many more possibilities than we are able to recognize.

It can be painful to see an old order fall.  Our secure idea of life also goes with it.  Suddenly our perception of what is true is no longer true.  The ego, which is attached to this way of life, is set adrift.  So we try to control the outcome by calculating the patterns and probabilities.  An exercise that can serve a valuable purpose to a point: preparation, clarification of what was, and the integration of valuable lessons learned to mitigate future errors.  But ultimately we want to be released from the matrix of the old pattern, not entrapped by our fear of it — whether by its loss, or its repetition.

On the other side, too much future projection regarding our own dystopian anxieties or utopian wishes has its own set of pitfalls.  Here, many are preoccupied with concerns about disasters, technocracy, wars and beyond.  Similar to our observations of past patterns — the concerns are valid.  Disasters, wars, and technological takeover are very real and present.  We should be aware of and prepared for these situations.  Yet, I would like to offer that we should not commit to them as if they are an unchangeable inevitability, in which we have no choice but to succumb.  This too, can become a mental projection that removes us from our power and agency, and limits our vision, and the scope of possibilities, to ones that are, frankly, extremely dark and hopeless.

In martial arts, Sifu teaches that in preparing for a fight you should spend your training concentrating on all you can do to ready yourself physically, mentally, and spiritually — fortifying your will, developing your technique, analyzing your opponent, and setting up your strategy.  But the moment the fight begins, you let it all go.  You become completely present and focused on the situation at hand.  You’re no longer thinking, because if you are thinking now, it is too late.  You must trust your preparation, and let go of the rest.

I believe, in the world, we are in a time like this.

How have you been preparing?  Did you learn everything you could know, inside and out?  Have you cultivated a spiritual anchor?  A sanctuary you can return to within yourself — a space where you are whole and safe, no matter what else is going on around you?  Are you well acquainted with your inner states?  Can you discern and distinguish between the different aspects of yourself?  What about the feeling of energies which are attempting to exert influence over you?

Self understanding & integration, discernment, inner stability, and the ability to be present are the most important skills we can cultivate in this time.  It is never too late to begin this work, and simultaneously, our learning is also never ending.  Every error in this unseen work trains us for future insight.  Every layer we uncover in our understanding reveals the next.

What is most important in the practice of such skills is not supernatural insight, but the cultivation of self trust, self reliance, and resilience.  This dissolves fear.  This keeps us free, as true inner development cannot be stolen.  It is the power we all need, if there is a genuine desire to escape the fate of the mirror world presented through media and technology.  For the way into the new world lies within, and will manifest from within, in a process we must be attuned to in order to create.

Of all the lies we have been taught, one of the greatest is that the average person is too small to change the world.  That change must only be brought about by people who acquire position, power, wealth or notoriety.  But what if the truth was more direct than that?  What if every day, we were all personally contributing a small part to the vision of a new form of reality?  What if our small, individual existence was actually already at work within a network of souls who share a similar vision?  People who we’ve never met.  Forming a faint web of connection, gradually accruing allies physical and nonphysical, strengthened by those who continue to believe in another way.  What if attention to what we can create, rather than what we wish to destroy, is what propels open the doors we seek to pass through?  What if the way it all collapses, is not due to a physical revolution — but a revolution of the soul — though which non-beneficial systems are driven to obsolescence by our increasing non-reliance upon them?

What if, at the apex of externalization, materialization — our true call is to return inward, reclaim our souls, and our power — to shape reality not by what is visible to the eyes and ears, but through natural resonance?

In Taoist work, the purpose of spiritual cultivation is to fully integrate our individual being and, in that process, come into alignment with heaven and earth.  In this state, what we accord with is not our conditioned, human orientation — but the orientation of a deeper impulse — the cosmic body of Tao.  To achieve this requires work on ourselves — our shadows, our perceptions — and a total reorientation of our understanding of reality.  A yielding of our human concept to the universal order.

It is from this place, and this place only, that true change is possible.  To become resonant with the Tao is to then be capable of manifesting Tao through ourselves — in our lives, in simple day to day ways, and in greater ways as this resonance permeates collective understanding and our ability to reform civilization in a manner which is harmonious with nature.  Our mind and internal self must be reshaped, developed, and cultivated first before we can be trusted to carry out this work.  Distorted, fragmented minds, clouded by the old system, cannot see beyond the pattern and cannot create something better.  The new way comes only through a purified state.

This time of great chaos — as darkness is revealed to the conscious mind and veils fall from our vision — is also a time of spiritual maturation.  If we wish for a better world, we cannot continue to sweep things under the rug and complacently ignore the existence of lower forces.  We must ourselves learn to rise above these shadows and skillfully resolve what requires resolution in an environment that is unrelenting and intense.  This is an individual process that is also naturally occurring within many people simultaneously.  Each of us with our own area of focus, our own stage of understanding, our own level of impact — all equally important.  Self, lineage, group, city, nation — earth itself.  Our conscious efforts accrue.  The pathways to a healthier way become more worn in, easier to see, opening more readily for those looking to find them.

There are no easy answers, but there is power in simple ways.  The complexity of our difficulties should be respected, yet we should also be aware of our individual limitations.  Attune deeply to your own soul.  Do what is meant for you.  Accept the nature of the world as it is at this time — and also remember that this portal of change is also a portal of creation.  We are all capable of pouring in something positive, something productive, something helpful, something real.  It may feel small.  It doesn’t matter if it is small or large — it all adds up.  The way will be shown — continue to do your work, continue to improve upon the state of your own being, your own soul  — do it for your own sake, if nothing else.  Do it for the hope of a better world, even if it seems impossible.  For if we don’t do it, who will?

Be open to all possibilities, yet remain discerning.  This is a tricky, treacherous time.  And yet it is also a time of great potential to pass through a trial that has limited us for many ages.  Stay close to spirit and listen deeply to what is inside.  The new world is on the horizon.

2026 ASTROLOGICAL OVERVIEW

Chinese Astrology Summary:  From Wood Snake to Fire Horse

The Fire Horse is the most intense yang energy in the Chinese Zodiac.  Representing a double fire energy (as Horse’s natal element is Yang Fire, symbolizing the height of summer/the noontime period in a day) we can expect this period to be one of rapid change, volatility, passion and confrontation.  The horse itself is a creature which is characterized by independence, willfulness and a dependable hard working attitude.  When the horse’s energy is focused and well directed, its ability to persist and achieve high goals is immense.  However, fire energy is the most difficult to control, and can become easily scattered or potentially dangerous.  Mental chaos, ego dramas, misdirected anger, people on their “high horse” yet without sensible solutions — are all likely manifestations under this energy.  Paired with the intense fire & air combination of this year’s Western astrology configurations, we can expect that we are moving into a period where tensions in the collective begin to reach their boiling point.

Fire is also an energy of purification.  The Snake, whose natal element is Yin Fire, appears in the cycle just before the Horse.  Last year’s Wood Snake year, with the combination of Wood + Fire, was the beginning of this Fire phase.  The Snake, as a yin sign, is a more inward sign.  It dwells upon the earth and has the attribute of digestion.  Already, in 2025, many people were pushed to their edges — dealing with intense, deep feelings that may have felt both difficult to understand and to release.  These feelings — though they may have been triggered by external events — were often rooted in experiences that were never fully digested, either from our earlier life, or at a soul level.

The pressurized nature of the Snake’s inner fire was felt strongly by many throughout 2025, and the process it brought about required intense inner purification.  Wood element surfaces frustrations, tension, agitation — but also symbolizes new growth.  With Wood fueling Fire all of the frustration must be transmuted and transformed, or else it becomes compounded internally — producing potential physical and mental health issues.  As we move into the outward Yang Fire of 2026, we will quickly understand the importance of this preparation — as to truly have access to the higher, more creative expressions of the Fire Horse energy, the path had to first be cleared.

Throughout the Wood Snake year and into the Fire Horse, we have also been enduring a very intense period of Western Astrological transitions.  The years 2025 & 2026 contain three major outer planet ingresses (sign changes) in the Western zodiac — all from slower, heavier Earth & Water signs to fast and hot Air & Fire signs.  These are the slowest moving, most karmic planets, and their sign transitions naturally stir up a lot of energy in the collective.  These changes stimulate old cycles — both from the sign that is completing and from the sign that is initiating — so, as a collective we are processing what we have learned in the most recent period, and beginning to glimpse what is to come.  Last year, 2025, was very much about this transition, as part of the year was spent with the new signs, and part of the year was spent with the old ones.  It isn’t until this year, 2026, that the outer planets will fully settle into their new signs and the new energy really begins to take off.

In the final month of the Wood Snake year (January 2026), Western astrology mirrored and compounded the Snake’s effect of closing cycles and completing karmas with the transit of two major outer planets, Saturn & Neptune, at the very last degree of Pisces.  In this period, it seemed that many people were wading through feelings of deep exhaustion — needing to take space and integrate the experiences of the previous year in order to fully shed the “skin” of old selves and fragmented aspects who no longer resembled the moment.  Though it may have felt a bit strange to have such an extended period of weariness right at the beginning of a year, this is exactly the type of energy you would expect observing the astrology of this juncture.

Focusing on Saturn & Neptune — these two are especially significant as their passage through the final degree of the zodiac this January marks the completion of several major cycles simultaneously.  Saturn won’t return to this space for another 30 years, and Neptune, another 165.  Then the two together could be seen as completing two additional significant cycles: the cycle of their standard conjunction (36 years) and the cycle of their major conjunction at 0 Aries, the very first degree of the zodiac, an event that last occurred nearly 6500 years ago.  No matter how you slice it, that is a lot of energetic threads closing at once, and it really required our attention, even if it was unconscious.

As if perfectly orchestrated, the Lunar New Year on February 17, signifying the official start of the Fire Horse, was quickly followed by the pivotal world-changing conjunction of Saturn & Neptune at 0 Aries on February 20.  On top of this, the Lunar New Year itself is also a Solar Eclipse in Aquarius — setting the tone for the event of the Saturn-Neptune conjunction to not only be incredibly karmic, but reflects a hidden element which will likely come to bear within the next 6 months.  Falling within the eclipse portal (the period between eclipses) there is almost a suspended quality to the energy, a sense of bated breath.  Action, events, long awaited changes — all is perched to unfold like dominoes across the world.

This is why the call inward has been so strong.  Under Yang Fire and Aries furor, inner processes are now turned outward.  Our discipline, center, and clarity of mind must hold strong as we pass through this liminal moment.  Now is the time to put forth the vision we really want for our lives, for our world.  Like an archer pulling back the bow, we are all preparing the direction of our arrows.  See it — consciously.  Seize this moment of pure potentiality.

In the year ahead, everything will come into question.  There is no better time to remove the shackles of your burdens, expectations and limitations.  So much work has already been done in the name of transformation, and there is still much more ahead.  But for now, in your own heart — put it all down.  Let the spirit fly.

The relationship between humans and horses is one that is long and meaningful.  Horses have assisted us in many of our endeavors from transportation, to agriculture, to war.  The psychic energy between humans and horses is one that is deeply linked — and the horse’s excitable and sensitive disposition reacts strongly to our approach.  To truly unite with the horse, a clear state of mind, and directed purpose is essential.

Fire, similarly, is most useful in its functions of illumination, brightness, warming, and alchemizing.  Our openness to what it is we must let go of in order to burn away the false, and access the true, will determine how well we flow with this time.  Surrender is an essential skill that we will need to call upon again and again — surrender expectations, surrender thoughts, surrender what we believe, what we think we desire — surrender the ego self that will not be able to keep up with what the soul knows.  Embrace timelessness.

During this year, who we are as individuals, and as a world, is going through a true trial by fire.  A lot is unfolding now that is stretching our perceptions.  Our role is to go with it, and once we crest the wave in our own life — mount the horse of our true path forward.  Joining with spirit on own ride to freedom.  A mystery we will have to feel, have to trust — in a space where much in the outer world will attempt to pull us away from this clarity and into illusion.  We must do this first for ourselves, then later we can assist and join with others.  It has to be an independent decision, an independent process.  That is the nature of this initiation.

Be at one with the change that is the Fire Horse.  Even in the height of chaos, may the heart be still, clear, and alert.  The inner light is the guide, not the fallen light of society.  Trust this, and your travels will be protected.

Western Astrological Analysis — 2026’s Two Most Important Configurations:  The Saturn-Neptune Conjunction & Barbault’s Basket

The 2020s include some of most concentrated periods of astrological intensity that we have had for many decades.  Cycles of major significance collide as we enter an era of long prophesied world transformation.

The years 2025 & 2026 are especially busy with three outer planet transitions and multiple major configurations forming in the process.  In this portion of the article, I will be covering the two most important configurations of 2026:  The Saturn-Neptune Conjunction at 0 Aries (February 2026) and Barbault’s Basket (July 2026).  I have chosen to focus on these elements first because they present the true thematic dimension of this year’s energy — and that is, “Civilizational Reset.”

To outline this, I will go into details about the astrological energies, their meanings, and their structures.  It is not necessary to understand everything described here, but in doing so, what I am hoping to convey are the profound and rare character of these formations.

In Part II we will go into greater depth specifically discussing the ingresses (sign transitions) of the three most significant planets — Pluto, Neptune & Uranus — and the overlapping cycles between the three that amplify this period’s historical interplay and long term impacts.  This will provide more insight into the nature and tone of the energies and their cyclic layers.

As I discussed in the previous section, the Year of the Fire Horse begins with a highly significant conjunction of Saturn and Neptune at 0 Aries.  This is one of the most pivotal conjunctions of this decade, and some would suggest the entire 21st century, even surpassing the impact of the Saturn-Pluto conjunction of 2020.

Like 2020’s Saturn-Pluto conjunction there are a number of extenuating factors that make this particular transit of Saturn & Neptune more far reaching.  The most important is its alignment at 0 Aries, the very first degree of the Western Zodiac — a highly sensitive point that reflects an energy of pure potentiality.  This is the Zero Point of the entire zodiac, referred to by astrologers as the “World Axis Point.”  Celestial alignments that occur at this point often correlate with major transformative events that impact the entire world.  In this case, the planet of Higher Vision (Neptune) is joining with the planet of Structure & Manifestation (Saturn) — offering a profound window of opportunity for deep, unprecedented, and lasting change.

The Saturn-Neptune cycle recurs every 36 years, but an alignment with this precise degree of the zodiac is exceedingly rare — amplifying the significance of this transit’s influence many times over.  As touched on in the previous section, the last occurrence was nearly 6500 years ago, in the year 4361 BC, a period which saw the beginnings of many Western civilizations including Sumer, Egypt, and several European settlements — as well as the urbanization of Chinese & Indian civilizations which had already been in development.  This reflects a significant civilizational wave across the world — the first since our pre-historical civilizations — and the one which has formed the framework for what our societies have become in this era.

In today’s time we are in the center of a similar explosion of change and evolution — one that will bring forth an acceleration of technological and spiritual development simultaneously.  Major transits like a Saturn-Neptune conjunction are inflection points.  Their true impact isn’t understood immediately, but is felt and played out over the course of years.  However, in the period of precise alignment there is often an infusion of energy that signals the tone of the coming era.  In this case, there is a feeling of natural, effortless transition to a lighter state of being — and a sublime sense of freedom as we release ourselves from the old order.

There is much work ahead to resolve the complexities that face our world — and many battles navigating the paradox of spiritual realization and technological materialization — one which seeks to align with the natural order, and one which attempts to extract and seize.  Through this friction and these great challenges, a new world will be born.  We have a choice as to how it plays out — and it starts with our own vision.  This is the energy of Aries — the pioneer, the warrior, the self-reliant and independent soul — who creates from instinct and brings forward what does not yet exist.  Complacency is the path of disaster — personal agency and courage, even against what seems infallible and unconquerable, will keep us moving towards the light.

To bring all of this one step further, a few short months after the Saturn-Neptune conjunction in late February, a major configuration will begin forming in the sky involving all of the outer planets.

A smaller part of this configuration, called a minor grand trine, has been active since mid-2024 and will continue to hold its structure through 2028.  This part of the configuration contains the planets Uranus, Neptune & Pluto (and often Saturn) moving in tandem at the cusps of their old & new sign positions.  This minor grand trine energy is one that is considered “harmonious” — flowing without obstruction.  This is a naturally creative formation, supportive for change — and in this context, increases the amplitude of the changes indicated by the transitioning planets.  There is a feeling, for the entire duration of this period between 2024 & 2028, of a continuous churning of the energy, as the outer planets constantly stir against each other.  The flow, intensity and speed of the changes are aided and amplified by this configuration — inspiring collective growth.

In 2026, as all outer planets move fully into their new signs, this formation begins to heat up.  The energy of Fire and Air is now dominant and unobstructed, with no future retrograde back into the previous, heavier energies to slow it down.  Starting in April, as a stellium of inner planets travels through Aries and Uranus moves into Gemini, the new energies will begin to take off.  In July of 2026, this energy peaks as Jupiter joins the configuration, and all outer planets form an incredibly precise cradle pattern.

This rare and potent configuration is called “Barbault’s Basket” — named after French Astrologer, André Barbault, who first discussed this configuration in the 1990s.  In Barbault’s analysis, this alignment signifies the end of the crisis period brought on by the 2020 Saturn-Pluto-Jupiter conjunction in Capricorn, and the rise of a totally new era.  Barbault described this extraordinary alignment of all outer planets as “the most beautiful configuration of the 21st century” and projected that it would bring on “a splendid relaunch of civilization.”

Without question, this alignment opens a truly profound portal of creation and transformation.  One that is highly supportive and immediate.  And simultaneously, it is a seed moment whose long term influence will far surpass it.  It is the threshold to the new world — once we pass through it, there will be no return to the way it was.  On every possible level, we will be bathed in the light of this change.

Following so closely behind the pure potential of the Saturn-Neptune conjunction, this configuration also presents a significant choice point — and it is one that is both collective and completely individual.  Will we join the invisible and mysterious stream of spiritual evolution, or will we choose to enter the denser reality of technological expansion?

This great paradox will be the foremost existential question of the new era.  Is there a way for the two streams to work together in harmony?  How do we navigate the confusion and disorientation of the collective as these contrasting realities really start to take form?  How will it all come together in the end?

It would be too much to deeply describe each element in this configuration (this will be covered in Part II), but I would like to share brief descriptions to provide context for these assertions.  In the Basket arrangement shown above we have 5 outer planets forming the configuration.  They are:

  • Pluto in Aquarius — a placement which deals with technological development, science, space, collective ideals and ideology, and the power of the people.  Pluto in Aquarius will drive collective growth as well as shadow work around these topics for the duration of its transit until 2044.

  • Uranus in Gemini — a placement which indicates multiplicity in all things — many perspectives, ideas, ways.  Uranus also represents technological development, particularly in an air sign like Gemini which pertains to the mind and communication.  Since it is trine to Pluto in this arrangement, this will significantly accelerate technological growth and proliferation because of Gemini’s multiplying effect.  It also indicates the duality of this time period — the breakthrough energy in the mental sphere will affect the spiritual as well as physical realms and we will see the two streams expanding simultaneously, emerging from similar instincts but arriving at very different outcomes.

  • Saturn & Neptune in Aries — the sign of Aries is the sign of new beginnings, action, identity, courage, and war.  This sign can be impulsive and rash, but is also about the bold exploration of new frontiers.  Saturn & Neptune in this sign stirs a collective identity crisis and subsequent transformation.  It also encourages the individual to tap into their own authenticity and sense of self responsibility in order to create a life that aligns with one’s own personal spirit.

  • Jupiter in Leo — Jupiter is the planet of expansion and Leo is the sign of pure joy and creativity.  Jupiter moves more quickly than the others, so its joining of this configuration is brief but significant, as it will add potent fuel to the already existing fire.  Jupiter in this instance reveals what has thus far been liminal.  Leo is the creative spirit manifested and sustained.  Jupiter’s impact here will be to essentially “light up” and intensely activate this arrangement — drawing out all of its potential to the fullest extent and moving us into a new journey.

Under this new arrangement of energies, all Fire & Air, mind-to-action manifestation is lightning fast.  Our energetic systems will lighten and quicken, and for many people, natural intuition and telepathy will dramatically increase.  Our sense of time will also change — as to exist in this state, one cannot hold the past and future as deeply, or linearly.  Our vision of both will flow in and out of the present in a new way.

This fluid state of being will feel foreign to many people, and will naturally stimulate periods of spiritual process as internal currents meet the obstructions of old programming in the etheric body.  A major task of this time is to consciously confront the shadow aspects of our selves and our world.  This will involve new skills, methods and perspectives on how to face and fully resolve traumas within self, lineages, and collectives.  These new ways require that we understand the energetics of life, not just the physical manifestations.  Attaining this awareness is key to understanding our problems at the root, empowering our healing, and opening the way for a more sustainable and aligned way of being for humanity.

These realizations — and many of our solutions — will arise naturally.  We do not need to seek them.  But instead, it is about remaining open and receptive to possibilities we hadn’t considered.  The human mind is limited — always clinging and often becoming attached to a particular idea of how things should go.  However, this time period we are entering is more about exploration and open-ended discovery.  The wisdom of old traditions are a touchstone that will keep us oriented — but the needs of the moment will be answered through our direct interaction with life.

Another significant focus of this period is the question of right relationship with technology.  The technological explosion that is to come will be world changing, in a similar way that the internet was world changing.  And with it there will be questions of ethics, environment, and reality on levels we have never faced.

The friction between the impulse to return to natural & more spirit-based ways of being and technological acceleration will be felt very intensely.  In the highest possible outcome, this abrasive relationship will catalyze both streams to harmonize in some kind of middle path whereby modern realities are served, and natural methods are utilized to keep systems healthy and sustainable.  But it will be a rocky road ahead to arrive at this possibility.  The contrast between the truly light and beautiful energy that is coming in, and the deep darkness that requires correction and resolution couldn’t be more stark, and many don’t know where to even begin with resolving it.

However it is our active participation in solving this very quandary that fuels this transformation and our maturation as a civilization.  How can we nurture lands, economies, nations, and people towards health, freedom, and peace?  We know intimately a world that is the opposite.  One of war, poverty, hunger, and illness.  To turn it around will require a complete reimagining of everything that we know.  This process is important — as we must digest the lesson through the wisdom gained in rebuilding harmony after it has been destroyed.

So in time of ugliness, do not fall into hopelessness.  Remember that we are all a part of this “splendid relaunch of civilization.”  It will require intention, effort, focus, intuition, and deep trust.  But it is possible because we make it so.  It will come because we made it so.

Spiritual Awakening & Purification Processes — Understanding Harmony & Disharmony in the Taoist Cosmological Framework

It may go without saying that the energetic environment that we are currently occupying is incredibly intense.  If you are sensitive, you’ve undoubtedly been roiled in the waves of this heavy, turbulent period for quite a while now.  The extreme pressure of this energy is a catalyzing force for continuous spiritual purging that is occurring within individuals and collectively across the planet.  Although many human-driven factors contribute to this atmosphere of spiritual overload, natural evolutionary cycles also underlie this quickening.  In a way, the great contrast between the false and the true is a feature, rather than a bug, in this stage of the evolutionary process.  We are forced to confront the unnatural, unsustainable, misaligned qualities of the human world, at the same time that our internal systems awaken more and more deeply to the sensations and truth of natural order.

When coming into alignment with the true and proper orientation to life, it is a natural result that all that is disordered will start to arise — like bubbles of a toxic substance responding to a purifying agent.  In our own souls — all that has been damaged, is fractured, and distorted by human conditioning suddenly appears before us as obstacles that require resolution, completion, and reintegration.  This is what is generally referred to as “shadow work.”  Similarly, as the planet itself undergoes evolutionary stages in its own life cycle, collective shadow work is triggered.  All forms of cleansing require phases of clean out.  It is not enough to just know that there is a mess — one needs to roll up one’s sleeves and actually do the work to clear away the darkness, then implement changes so as not to recreate the same mess again.

This is a process that many may already be intimately familiar with on the individual level, but may not be able to see as easily on the collective level.  This is partly due to the fact that there are many human behaviors contributing to the dross — slowing, and in many ways, obstructing the process.  Much is due to unconsciousness, which has for many millennia opened the doors for malevolent influence to establish a firm root, and ensure its proliferation.

In Taoist Cosmology the symbol of Yin & Yang is an empty circle containing a curved division between the dual energies.  In a natural, harmonized environment forces of yin & yang flow evenly — one becoming the other in a continuous wave.  The sun rises, the sun sets.  The moon follows its rhythm from new to full back to new.  This is the natural flow of Yin & Yang.  An integrated spirit is one in which this flow is predominant.  The implication on an alchemical level is that the yin & yang qualities of the soul are in their natural place — not corrupted.  Because the flow of Yin & Yang is harmonized, the rhythm of the cycle naturally purifies itself — like water continuously flowing.

However, when these energies polarize and begin to separate, fragmentation occurs and disordered manifestations start to appear.  These fragments, which are born from a disoriented state, can start to take on a life of their own.  At their most extreme, they become the face of evil itself — within people, beings, and even collective movements.  Because they are inherently separated from natural flow, these fragmented beings and energies strive for survival in their own way — spreading harm and negativity that keeps the patterns they represent going continuously.  In this Age of Confusion, the darkness has held its influence upon the world for so long as to be nearly imperceptible, and even accepted as an expected defect within the human condition.

However, Taoist Cosmology grants us the vision of the harmonized state — and the practices which emerge from it (Qigong, Chinese Medicine, Martial Arts, Traditional Music, Art & beyond) are the tangible methods and tools to align our spirit, bodies and mind in accord with this deeper universal reality — natural law.  The very concept of Tao as spiritual methodology, complete with its own sages and achieved ones, is an indication that such a state of existence, one which we readily see in nature, is something humans can aspire to regain.  Throughout the world such ideas exist in many different forms and names — as this is the work of all pure mystical traditions.  And in this time, this is the work that are we are being called to reconnect with on a collective scale — in our own way, and through pathways and methodologies that are natural and organic to our own personal soul.

With all I have shared in this essay, I feel it is important to offer some further, tangible guidance for how to navigate this time period.  Having laid out the understanding that the primary locus of truth and order is alignment to the higher soul & natural law, I would like to share the following ideas and tools to hopefully make the days ahead more manageable.

Guidance for Energetic Balance in 2026

The intense fire of 2026, active in both Eastern & Western astrology, is an exciting, fast moving energy.  There is a sense of freedom, liberation, and release from stagnation that many are enjoying as we cross into this Fire era.  However, we should be aware that this can also be an exhausting energy, burning up our reserves with all of the chaos, change and upheaval that unbridled Fire is destined to bring on.

Managing our personal energies is of utmost importance to weather this time period easefully and avoid burn out.  In this final section, I will share some key strategies for keeping your energy flowing, clear, and grounded as you progress through the year.

UNDERSTANDING SPIRITUAL OVERLOAD

As touched on in the previous section, many of the struggles that people are experiencing in this current time period can be boiled down to spiritual overload.  Essentially, our energetic fields are absorbing so much information, environmental disturbance and cosmic adjustment that we become overwhelmed by it.

Symptoms of spiritual overload manifest as: fatigue, anxiety, brain fog, a shorter emotional fuse, living in survival mode, finding it difficult to focus or be creative, escapism, dissociation, and more.  Most people recognize this is happening, but have no idea how to assist themselves in overcoming it — often mistaking the symptoms for other issues.

Just like your body, your energy field needs to be regularly cleared and cleaned to be healthy.  This can be achieved easily through increased personal awareness as well as some small adjustments to your daily routines:  moving more, getting out in nature, and spending time in silence and stillness to rebalance oneself.

The simplest prescription for the year ahead is “addition by subtraction.”  Reduce complexity, wherever possible.  Let go of emotional and spiritual baggage.  Observe and remove any energy drains.  Manage only what is realistically in your control.  And in turn, watch your own energy be replenished and stabilized.  In this way you can be fully present for all of the people and activities in your life that are truly important.

DISCHARGING THE OVERLOAD

Rest & Recuperation — Discharging the overload.
Tie up all of the loose ends for the day, and fully empty oneself of all external obligations.  Rest the mind through stillness and silence.  Allow thoughts to flow and settle on their own.  Journal, meditate, take a spiritual bath — whatever helps you fully clear the deck each day.  This will help clear any energetic clutter that we might pick up in our day to day activities, which if not tended to can start to become noisy and heavy.  See this “emptying” ritual as a part of daily spiritual hygiene, to stay grounded, and unburdened.

Observe your own inner states — cultivate detachment to both yourself and external events.
Learning to see one’s own energetic states is an important step to spiritual discernment.  What is underneath your feelings?  What is motivating you to take certain actions?  In time, we are able to differentiate between our normal thoughts, clear and aligned higher guidance, and the distorted thoughts and emotions that are coming from unhealed parts of ourselves, other people or collective influences.  As we make sense of this, we can more easily determine how to resolve whatever is arising, and separate ourselves from forces which drain us.

LIVING EFFORTLESSLY

Practice Wu Wei — No Force.
The Taoist concept of Wu Wei refers to taking action without force.  In practicing Wu Wei we learn the delicate balance of initiating action and following the flow of natural energy. This skill also helps us to conserve our energy so that we are not expending it wastefully on tasks or activities that are not aligned.  When we practice Wu Wei we are listening to the natural flow of energy, and following it, rather than projecting from our mind the way we wish for things to be.  “Do nothing and all will be done” are the classic words from Lao Tzu.  When you really learn how to align with the rhythm of your inner cosmos, you’d be surprised that even monotonous tasks find their place in the natural rhythm of your life.  Projecting a plan, establishing a new pattern or habit, and inner listening all move together when we establish full collaboration with our higher spirit.

Accept and see the world as it is, not as you wish it to be.
Keeping a clear view, you can see what is real and what isn’t and you can anticipate troubles that could arise more accurately.  Therefore, you know what to prepare for in times of peace, so you are ready in times of crisis.  Understand your own lenses and conditioning, as well as the biases of external sources of information, so as not to be deceived by egoic layers of perception.  Seek multiple perspectives and verify all incoming external information to the best of your ability — then run it through your own intuitive filter and come to your own conclusions.  Let your conclusions be open ended, subject to revision and updates.  Stay curious, but always follow your gut and take action from clarity, not confusion.  If possible, allow confusion to settle for as long as it takes on any given subject before taking action on it.  This prevents any wasteful movement, and prioritizes higher awareness as the director of your actions.

NATURAL ORIENTATION TO THE NEW VISION

Cultivating Light & Embodying Peace.
Practicing peace and stillness every day within our own space and energy is a small thing we can do to strengthen and build this vibration — for ourselves and for the planet as well.  Hold peace every day with no agenda and expectations.  Hold peace for all.

The spirit world responds to a pure heart & sincerity.
When you are completely present, mind settled & still — you will become open to hear and feel the guidance and support of spirit/Tao/higher self.  This is a way we refresh our energy every day.  What we do in a space repeatedly establishes the quality and flow of the energy of our spaces.  This is how temples seem to hold a sacred energy that a shopping mall does not.  Create this space within yourself and within your environment so that all who you meet in the day can be influenced by this positive energy, and you can be refreshed by it, as well.

.

A New Vision: The Pisces / Aries Transition

Hello everyone! Happy Spring!

I apologize for not releasing my usual Lunar New Year article this year —  I have been working on writing for this extraordinarily potent year, but I have been delayed on all projects due to recovery from Hurricane Helene on my property. Fortunately, I came away from the storm with minimal damages to my home, but in the harrowing morning hours of September 27 about 50 trees went down all around my house.  Like most others in Western North Carolina, I have been navigating the stresses of wind, rain and fire continuing to afflict our tenuous infrastructure, hiring workers to complete repairs and help with other aspects of cleanup, as well as attempting to clear some tiny portion of debris myself for the county pickup.  It is like trying to shovel the snow off of Mount Everest, but my problems are small relative to many.  Every day now I am grateful to be alive and in safe shelter — able to continue my work, and be with my loved ones and community.

In addition to those logistical delays, I have also been slowed down by the immense challenge of distilling the astrological influences of this current time due to the sheer quantity and complexity of the factors involved.  Because of this, I have decided to break form and release several articles covering different topics individually.  This is an approach I have wanted to transition to for quite some time but had put aside for the last several years in order to focus on other needs.  Although the reality remains that I do not have a lot of time to devote to writing, it feels important to offer this service in this critical season.

More and more, everything that we do is about following the flow of spirit, and my work with astrology is no exception.  It is my belief that we are in an era where our evolution and growth comes through spiritual integration and inner work.  It is through the alchemy of the inner worlds that we can become stewards of a new creation.

We must learn to perceive beyond the obvious and feel into the currents of the spiritual world.  Only when we hone our skills of inner listening, insight, transmutation and integration, are we capable of proper orientation to the changes we are experiencing. Whether for our own path, work that we are doing for others, or in larger society — learning to see the “invisible” forces at play, and discern natural spiritual impulses from human distortions, is absolutely critical to pass through this crossroads in the best way possible.

The perspective that I am driven to pursue in my studies, which, in turn, I am hoping to impart, is part astrological and part mystical.  I have found over the last 5 years or so, that trying to tie my writing too strictly to astrology tends to be confining.  It is easy for me to observe the tapestry of interwoven factors and their many layers — but not as easy to break down each piece in writing without it becoming excessively complex.  Each factor also has tendency to fractalize once it hits some sort of formal structure, so it can become both unfocused and unwieldy very quickly.

In these last 5-6 years, I have been receiving a lot of information — both through ongoing study and my own observations and insight.  After encountering struggles trying to concretize what I was receiving into writing or other creative formats, I surrendered to the process and trusted that there would eventually come a time when it was meant for me to share again with the public.  After these years of integrating, I feel grateful to start transitioning again into a more active phase with this work.  I understand now that the time with the information was necessary, as I needed to come to a clearer understanding of the energetic dynamics at work in our world, and develop a realistic perspective on how we can become active participants in influencing a positive direction for our society.

In my primary work as an internal martial arts practitioner and instructor, I focus daily on the cultivation of Qi and the embodiment of Taoist principles through mind-body-spirit practices.  This is a form of study that offers direct experience of natural laws in the body.  Such work also gives us greater access to the spiritual streams that exist around us, as well as awareness of those that we inhabit based off of our state of being and consciousness.

Just knowing that we are in a period of change is not enough.  We must also participate in the process through conscious practices that cultivate our spirit and transmute our personal and collective karmas.  This is the responsibility of every individual.  Of course, it is understood that everyone is in a different place in their personal journey and path, and so what this means in practice will look very different from person to person.  Regardless of the method, quantity, or ability, to do an inch of sincere personal growth is worth a mile of theory and talk.  No matter how attractive it is to get lost in the realm knowledge and mind, the power is in the work.  Each and every day we choose our focus.  It is not necessary to exhibit perfection, but rather integrity, sincerity, and authenticity.

With all of that said, my goal for this work at this time is to remain open ended and flexible with regard to both the formatting and the subject matter of each piece.  I expect these articles will involve some degree of astrological timeliness, but the focus is going to be more towards the larger, broader, more timeless themes that I feel are important to highlight.  I don’t want to put designs on it too much beyond that, as I feel it is important to just simply go with the flow and let it be what it is meant to be.  But I also felt it was important to spell out my thinking a bit so that you can understand where I am coming from with this approach.

For this article I will be focusing on what I am calling the “Pisces/Aries Transition.”  In particular, I would like to zero in on some messages that I received in recent months about releasing the old epoch and opening to the new energies.  This is a very important theme for 2025, reflected across the board in the Western astrological cycles, and emphasized further in the Eastern zodiac by the fact that we are in the year of the Snake, a sign that is all about digesting old karma, shedding your skin, and transformation.

For the astrological minded the Pisces/Aries transition includes:

  • Both Neptune and Saturn completing their transit in Pisces and moving into Aries, eventually coming into a conjunction at the World Axis point of 0 degrees of Aries — the first degree of the first sign of the zodiac.  This is a significant and symbolic transition calling forth a new vision for the world.  Neptune dreams and Saturn manifests.  This transitional energy is particularly active from March 2025-February 2026, at which point both planets will remain in Aries for several years.  Neptune makes its first ingress into Aries this month, on March 30, 2025.

  • The North Node leaving the sign of Aries and beginning its transit of Pisces (January 2025 - July 2026) — the transit of the Lunar Nodes brings forward a particular karmic and emotional process for the collective.  In this case, the nodes moving into Pisces/Virgo is about releasing the critical, pre-planned and known, in order to follow the unmapped vision of the soul.

  • The North Node coming into conjunction with Neptune, bringing forward important messages for the world as Neptune prepares to leave this sign (February 2025).

  • Both Venus and Mercury going retrograde over the Aries/Pisces cusp in March-April 2025 — bringing this energy more directly into the conscious mind and mundane reality.  Both Venus and Mercury will encounter Neptune as it moves from Pisces to Aries this month (March 2025), which amplifies the energy of this transition even further.  The tension of the changes will be felt actively through the vectors of these planets:  Communications, Technology, Thought, Mind, Finances, Values and Relationships.

  • The eclipses of September/October 2024 and March 2025, both containing energies from the new Pisces/Virgo cycle and the completing Aries/Libra cycle.  Unlike the planets, the Lunar Nodes travel retrograde through the zodiac as a default.  So we have already been doing some work on the cultivation of healthy Aries energy — releasing codependency and learning to be ourselves more firmly.  All four eclipses have a strong connection with Neptune.  The September/October Eclipse portal truly brought in the Piscean themes of storms and surrender as reflected through the impacts of Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton.  The eclipses this month will be equally potent, given that they are concurrent with, and aligned with, the afore mentioned Venus/Mercury Retrograde and Neptune Aries Ingress.

From the perspective of many astrologers, March is the most intense month of the year, and you can clearly see why based on the above list of events.  This is an extraordinary confluence of different factors aligning over a very small patch of sky at the point of a major outer planet sign change.  It is a poetic orchestration — almost as if the cosmos is aiding us specifically to make sure we finish our Pisces business completely by 2026, when all of the major outer planet fluctuation settles and we can begin to fully orient in the new energies rising.  Interestingly, this is also mirrored at a macrocosmic level with the shift of the ages from Pisces to Aquarius — however, I will digress on that topic for now, as it is a subject for another article.

As you have likely already felt, the new energies coming in are fast moving.  We are transitioning from a long sit with outer planets in Earth & Water signs (more yin in quality) that are naturally more slow to develop — to quick, impulsive and unpredictable Air & Fire signs (Aquarius, Gemini and Aries respectively).  This new period is not a time where we will get to contemplate and dwell upon all of our problems in the manner that we have perhaps become accustomed.  It is a time of action and a time when thought moves into action much more readily than before.  The sheer amount of change and information coming in from all levels (mundane and spiritual), will be far too much for us to process in this clinging style.  Thus, it is important for us to master a number of the key lessons from the Neptune in Pisces period, especially its most essential qualities — release, intuitive listening and going with the flow.

In Taoist work, the fundamental principle of reality is that change is the unchanging.  Therefore the philosophy, lifestyle and practices that emerge from the Taoist perspective are centered around how to understand and align with change.  At this time, we are moving into a new era that is fundamentally different in its operation from the previous one.  Many are resistant to this change and clinging to the old, dying matrix — attempting to resuscitate what has already passed.

The truth is that we cannot stop this transformation.  It is the cosmic destiny of this time period.  All that is occurring is a natural expression of this process.  Instead of resistance, what is more beneficial is to join with the energy of change.  In this way, we become empowered participants and capable of influence.  This is one of the themes of Neptune in Aries — vision and creation through spiritually integrated individualism.

With Neptune’s transit through Pisces we have seen the power of influence through Piscean sources — dogmas and thought clouds of all kinds develop instantaneously through digital media.  But it remains ephemeral.  Words and feelings expressed into the world do not necessarily equate actions or change.  Nonetheless, the state of collective consciousness, whether for better or worse, has certainly become more apparent.

What we have gained from this Neptune in Pisces transit is a greater understanding of our psychic interconnectedness.  For the spiritually oriented, this has been an important period for developing greater sensitivity, insight and perception.  On the mundane level, we have observed, through the use of our digital devices, the positive and negative impacts that result from constant exposure to emotionally charged people & situations, as well as the influence of deceptive and manipulative information via social media and traditional media sources.

On the positive side, there is now a greater awareness of spiritual realities and the impacts of unseen forces upon our minds.  This has encouraged more empathy and brought into consciousness the need for discernment and boundaries in all areas of life.  However, even the virtues of the Piscean Archetype also has its excesses.  Collective psychosis and mass confusion have been intensified under these energies.  Too much involvement with the drone of human chatter over natural, simple truths fuels this distortion.  There is no question that all of this creates a drain on our energy that never existed before, and is a factor in declining mental health for many people.

What is needed now is a more conscious and directed understanding of our energetic relationship with life, with nature, and with other people.  For the last 14 years of Neptune’s transit in Pisces, we have been discovering and opening to deeper sensitivity without much direction.  As Neptune moves into Aries, all that we have learned must now be rallied into alignment for us to take the next steps and go deeper.

As a martial artist, it is clear to my mind that the symbolism of Neptune in Aries in its higher manifestations evokes the idea of the Warrior Spirit.  This is a person who is grounded in their relationship with heaven and earth, who embodies peace, but is capable of great strength and courage when called upon to act.  The Warrior Spirit is a state of being where one is deeply connected to natural law and also ready to meet any challenge with unbendable will.  This is a will developed through daily focus, daily discipline, and spiritual self sufficiency.  A confidence that is true, based on hard work and effort.

The Warrior Spirit is not an energy of arrogance, nor is it based on physical abilities.  It is about the sharpening of the will, and the embodiment of one’s highest virtues.  It is about becoming unified in all aspects of self with such perfection that one is able to wield the full expression of universal forces with clarity and precision.

In the fast moving energy of these coming times, personal authenticity and directness are very important. Any disorderly behavior will have stronger ripple effects upon us and others around us.  For this reason, we will find it more imperative to remove inner contradictions and clarify our actions.

Likewise, we will also be navigating a morass of hotter tempers and difficult behaviors all around us in our outer world.  So we have the decision to make:  Are we going to be an agent of peace, or of war?  Do our actions and words today call people together in strength, or drive division?  True strength is holding to peace under the great pressure of war.

It has been my perspective for a while now that the Aquarian age is about finding the appropriate balance between collective and individual needs — and that we need to work first on becoming spiritually sovereign as individuals before we can build healthy collectives.  This is because we need to do the personal work of repatterning ourselves to operate in alignment with our soul’s process and path over our alignment with society’s conditioning.  This is the only way to build a new way forward that does not repeat the same cycles and mistakes of the past.  The new society is one that emerges through us, so we must clear the way for that process to occur.

Neptune in Aries is the genesis of this new creation.  Aries is the beginning, the pioneer — in this phase we should remain open and curious.  Get comfortable with not knowing.  Experiment and enjoy the challenges — embrace breaking from convention.  Have no agenda — only a clarity of purpose to keep discovering your purpose.  The more integrated we are on all levels, the more capable we are to be a part of the positive potential that underlies all of the turmoil we will face in the coming years.  Equally important is to stay in touch with the true self and the grounded reality of natural order, as we will soon be entering a new phase of technological acceleration which will tempt us into further distraction and disconnection.

Neptune in Aries will also likely be a time of collective identity crisis.  The moment that we are in is one of flux between the old world and the new.  All of us will be trying to understand who we are in the changing reality, and this will be highly distressing for many people who have been attached to the old order.  The first step to enduring this process is ultimately to accept that the world is changing — as it is meant to — and that there are many things on the world stage playing out that the average person has no control over.  Attachment to this chaos will quickly become tiring and wasteful.  Observe it, and let it go.  Know that this too shall pass and that nothing is permanent.  We are writing a new story, and there will be flexibility for corrections and further changes down the road.

In the meantime, what we can do is focus on continuously moving the energies of the old matrix into a process of transmutation.  To let go of the old, completely, within ourselves, is the first step to making room for something new to emerge.  The powers that dominate our world today are also attempting to change with the times, so this is not to make light of the real perils that exist, but rather to express the importance of our own power through energy to guide the nature of this transformation in the long term and to overcome the karmas that these problems represent.

For guidance on how to do this, I would like to share what I received about working with change and releasing old energies here.

Working With Change

BE PRESENT

To be present is one of the most common concepts across spiritual perspectives, and one that is more relevant than ever.  In our often noisy human minds, in an increasingly noisy modern world, it is easy to get caught in loops of rumination over the past and projections of hypothetical futures — but not so easy to sit fully in the here and now.  But why does it matter?  What does “Being Present” do for us that is any different from any other state?

The most important thing that we can cultivate in times of change is resilience of our own personal center.  To be present and still each day allows all aspects of the being to come together, which in turn allows us to meet the moment in a manner that is more true and clear.  If we can still ourselves enough for the constant movement of the mind to settle, even for a little while, we can become aware of how easily we get carried away into the many thought streams and mind clouds — and evaluate more honestly the state of our own energy, the nature of energies around us, and what the best use of our focus is in that day.

When we build our own center and tune our awareness in this way, we are more resilient to changes and shifts in direction.  There are a few reasons why this is.  First, because we have stabilized our own center, we are not as easily pulled into chaotic thought storms.  Second, because we have cultivated greater stillness, we are more open to our intuition and can begin to feel when changes are approaching, or receive guidance as to our next steps in the midst of a change.

We live in a time where energy is changing day by day, and chaos is increasing in the world.  To be present is to be responsive and adaptable to the changing conditions.  When we are present we face what is — not what we wish, not what we believe — and as a result we move in closer proximity to reality.  Our visions are less theoretical and more actionable, thus more effective.

When we are present we are also more open and able to access new ideas.  As I have mentioned already, new ways forward will emerge from within us.  To stay in fearfulness and attachment about past and future, is in essence continuing the loop of the past.  To close the loop we need to step out of the loop entirely.  To reinvent the wheel based off of a past paradigm is not true creation.  The new emerges from what we don’t yet know, from what we can’t yet see, and through exploration.  There is no external guidebook telling us the steps.  We have to experiment and find our way ourselves.  And we do this through the journey inward.

All of nature is in a state of constant change.  Some realities are expanding, others are fading away.  The past provides essential frameworks for us to work from, and develop ourselves through — but all is evolving, even our frameworks.  To be present is to be able to listen to the true message of the day.  To take what is perennial, to understand the essence — and then to join with those factors in their evolving process.  If we try to define, we constrict.  But if we stay open to the reality of movement, and of change, we are closer to truth.  And closer, therefore, to right action.

CHANGE IS AN OPPORTUNITY

It is a natural response of our human ego to fear change.  In every major change there are unknown and uncontrollable circumstances and outcomes.  Equally, in every major change — there is an opportunity for a new path.

Certainly, there are forces in our world today that are attempting to guide changes in directions advantageous to them.  The battles fought between the powerful place ordinary citizens as collateral.  They treat us like chess pieces on a game board, with no true regard for nature or humanity.

Truth and malice walk close by to each other.  Although malice may open the door, truth will rush in.  The doorways of the world are opened by many types of forces — some of the light, and some of the dark.  In each opening there is a vulnerability — as change does not discriminate.

In other words, we too have the power to drive change.  By following the true evolutionary principles of the time, each phase of destruction can become the fertile soil for new constructions.

Do not allow fear to lull you into complacent inaction.  The period of stagnation that we were in for many years would have shifted one way or another.  This is natural law.

This time of transformation is why many of us chose to incarnate in this era.  We are meant to be engaged with the new creation by using our ingenuity and adaptability, even in adverse circumstances.  This phase of purification is also a golden opportunity to resolve long standing karmas.  Though the going may be painful at times, the difficulties create growth and inform the way we go forward long term. Nothing new can be created without passing through these trials.

JOIN RATHER THAN RESIST

I have spoken already about the idea of “joining with change.”  This can also be understood as change through harmonization.  In this way of working with change, you adapt, rather than resist, in order to influence the direction of the energy.  At this time, resistance and opposition is a short path to exhaustion, so learning to flow in the energies is a better strategy.

In terms of bigger picture concerns — there is a greater possibility of achieving ones aims through collaboration among divergent factions rather than opposition.  The joining together must be sincere and based on objectives rather than allegiance to groups or leaders.  Alliances based on truth and genuine interest are more likely to find solutions.  Those focused on tribalism and groupthink are not flexible enough to achieve what is needed and will eventually fail.

In terms of personal concerns — whatever changes may come, to join rather than resist is to accept the change and move into the next phase of your process without fear.  If there is a loss, see the opportunity in loss.  Be open to a new path that leads you to a happier and better direction, looking forward rather than back.

Joining rather than resisting is also about engaging your creativity to overcome challenges that may arise.  Release expectations.  Take unconventional paths.  Where there are limits, create new freedom.  Be self sustaining.  There are always better ways to be found — and they are often revealed at the edges of constriction.  This is important in all matters.

UNDERSTAND NATURAL LAW

Natural or Universal Law is the true order of reality.  All human constructions that depart from this will fail, as they exist in falsehoods.  The only sustainable reality is one in which humans learn to work with nature and its processes.  This is discovered through genuine interaction with nature, and inner work.  Having a holistic understanding of reality — one that recognizes the spiritual world as the basis for all existence — is also important.  Without this understanding, humanity will always be lost in false matrices.

If one can be firmly oriented in natural law, rather than human constructs, it will be easier to discern true from false in the current time and going forward.  All truth is energetically coherent and abides the order of nature.  Falsehoods go against and distort nature — and ultimately create trouble down the road.  Regaining our relationship with the natural and spiritual worlds is an important step to rebalancing what has become disordered in humanity.

The earth is a living system and being that we are all born of.  Our perception that there is a separation between us and her is the great illusion of modernity.  Our process of evolution and change is an extension of the earth’s process.  To move with it is constructive and healthy — to remain in separation is destructive for all.

Healing & Resolving Karma, Processing Grief, Accepting the Past

BEAR WITNESS

On internal, relational and societal levels, an integral part to the healing process is bearing witness.  It is why we have memorials and other types of ceremonies when someone dies, and it is also why there is still an integral function to telling stories rather than simply reporting the news.

In our overstimulating and atomized media environment, it can be easy to become “compassion fatigued” by tragedy and loss — to view events almost as if they are movie plots existing in an abstract reality, rather than something effecting real people.  As often is the case, it can also be hard to know how to relate to survivors of tragedies that you yourself have no first hand knowledge of.  When we are personally healing from a difficult life event, we also know how a weight can be lifted when someone truly listens.  We all have been in different iterations of these roles — the bereaved, the one giving comfort, the person who fumbles, and the one who feels not seen in their pain.

Whether it is a personal or collective event, karma, or trial — to bear witness to everything, every perspective, every feeling, every side is the only way to complete resolution.  Bearing witness is not about what is right or wrong.  It is about hearing what isn’t being heard.  The most stuck parts of ourselves are often the ones that carry negative emotions, mostly stemming from anger, fear, confusion or shame.  These are only resolved when we can observe the true reality of these parts and accept them back into the wholeness of our being.

In society, we have habituated the glossing over of collective suffering — and have politicized nearly everything in order to conveniently ignore some realities in favor of highlighting politically expedient and preferable forms of suffering instead.  All “sides” do this — and then accuse the other of “misinformation” when the incongruent realities are raised.  The result, inevitably, is further polarization, rage, and escalation of conflict.

It would be impossible for all of us, as individuals, to truly honor and bear witness to all events individually.  However, it is possible for all of us to honor and bear witness to the reality of suffering and be present with the truth and illusion of it all in real time when it arises in our lives.  To sit beside our friends and loved ones and hear their stories.  To be willing to step into each other’s worlds without judgment, placating and distancing.  Without one-upmanship.  Without needing rescue or fix.    Without needing to win.

Until we can do this, there is no answer, no solution, and no way forward.  And so it is more important than it ever has been to be willing to look at what is difficult to see.  To observe every possible layer.  Only once full observation has occurred, accounting for all possible variables and perspectives, can an honest evaluation be made.  On an energy and karmic level — only once this is done can an energy be transmuted and transformed.

The conclusion may be different in every situation.  This process, on its own, is a way to begin to move stagnant and fragmented energy.  Whether that energy simply resolves without a need for further work, or is requiring action is observed on a case-by-case basis.  The next steps are only discovered if we are willing to take the first one.

Often when we whittle down our most complex emotions, we find at the bottom a simpler need.  When a soul feels the truth, it is set free — always.  There is no purpose to division but to perpetuate division.  Perhaps, on a higher level, the fatigue we eventually feel from always fighting is what leads us to the realization that peace is never “won.”

In the Tao Te Ching, Chapter 31, it says,

“Do not rejoice over victory
With the loss of others
weep with sorrow and grief
After winning the battle
do not celebrate,
observe the rites of a funeral

One who is bound to action, proud of victory,
and delights in the misfortune of others
will never gain a thing
from this world below Heaven.” (trans. Jonathan Starr)

May we all remember this truth.

PRACTICE FORGIVENESS

For injuries large and small, we must learn to practice forgiveness.  Forgiveness of others, forgiveness of ourselves, forgiveness of history.  This unburdens our spirits, releases karmas, and allows us to be free of stuck energies and traumas held by bitterness and anger.  Not forgiving is a form of internal resistance.  And while it may feel appropriate for a time, it is ultimately hindering.

In innocence, we are open to possibilities and unafraid of new ideas.  When we get hurt, we become insular and it is more and more difficult to trust and have faith. We cling to the familiar and the safe, and become uninterested in exploring.  Wisdom is understanding that humans are fallible but spirit is eternal. When we are in the deepest void, spirit is always available to shine a light. And it is this that we must come to trust.

Acceptance and forgiveness can be extremely difficult, especially when the hurt is deep.  It might not feel possible to forgive the other for harm they have caused.  In that case, start by forgiving oneself.

Forgiveness in this case is about being able to let go, release burdens, and have greater freedom moving forward.  This is an internal exercise to work on transforming personal and collective wounds.

PRAY FOR THE HEALING OF ALL

“One who sees himself as everything is fit to be guardian of the world
One who loves himself as everyone is fit to be teacher of the world.”

- Tao Te Ching 13, trans. Jonathan Starr

The transformation of this era is one that effects all who walk this earth.  All are a part of it.  All have their roles within it.  And all are in operation with the cosmic cycles and confluences which are far beyond our personal perception.

The true “revolution” is a revolution of consciousness.  It is an internal shift available to all of us — and in each of us we have the choice:  To continue to feed the darkness of division and war or to choose, through our actions and being, to guide the energy towards peace and stability.

To pray for the healing of all is to pray for the awakening of all — including and especially those who we believe to be captured by darkness.  Why should we not wish for the potential of success and positive outcomes as it pertains to our greater world?  Why should we not hope for the awakening of even the most cold hearted?

Like the forgiveness exercise, this is not about naïve faith in the benevolent intentions of people who may very well never change, nor is it about reinforcing an idea of no accountability — but rather the cultivation of the possibility of a higher path.

We are influencing the reality we live in all of the time with our thoughts and projections.  We do this mostly unconsciously.  The expectation of horror, doom, and complacent negativity is a pervasive outlook in our current society.  Through this, we remain in a state of disempowerment and suffering.

Throughout the world a temple is a place of respite — where all people can congregate in quiet reflection and focus their minds toward a higher power.  Spiritual places, over time, become an empowered energetic structure, where the distinction between the noise of the mundane world and the more harmonic qualities of the temple are felt upon entering.

Likewise, all belief systems and timelines are a type of energetic structure.  The immutable truth is natural law — all else in the human world is dependent on the momentum behind collective beliefs.  Right now we have many paths before us — and not all is decided.  There is a more harmonic timeline that is unmarred by the negativity of most of the others.  We strengthen the path of a more positive outcome by remaining connected to our higher visions, and to whatever degree we are able, returning to and building the energy of peace within ourselves.

This takes discipline, as the power of the negativity is compelling and self perpetuating.  However, if such a force of magnetism can exist in a negative way, such as force can exist in the positive.

Our small acts of hope may seem trivial in a world filled with so much darkness and suffering.  We may think there is no point, and that we should give up.  But what, then, becomes of a world without our small hopes, our small kindnesses, our small gifts?

This world is us and we are it.  There are no quick solutions and not all people are open to a positive direction.  Such work is not about immediate gratification, but having faith in the long view.  The erosion of our communities and relationships was set in place and cultivated over time.  Similarly the return to truth and reconnection can also be cultivated.

The funny thing about life is that we cannot always know the way to the highest path.  Without the pressure of the darkness, we could not truly fortify our lightness.  Without our past errors, we cannot nurture the wisdom for correct choices in the future.  There may never be perfection.  But there can be something better.

Benevolent leadership emerges in a new paradigm, not in the perpetuation of the old.  Those who are inappropriate for the new world will not be able to sustain their power — because power is bestowed by the momentum of the collective.  We will understand this more readily in time.

Even with all this, there is so much more still that can be shared about the nature of these energies that I will continue to share over time.  If you have gotten this far, thank you for taking the time to read this tome.  I hope that this message is of assistance for all who come across it.

Peace to all.
